(This is what I wrote on my social media page. The picture referenced is below.)
I am going to take a moment to voice my opinion and explain my cover photo which I created last night.
The art on my cover photo came out of my deep emotions. I was looking for a flatline photo because I was going to post it as a sign that I was going to limit my time on social media. The reason for that is because I did not want to see any ignorant comments from anybody regarding the events in this country. However, I am seeing people fighting for justice in all forms. Thank God. As I was searching for a flatline pic, I decided to just draw one myself. That idea spiraled because I could not stop drawing and painting on my digital art program. As I was creating this I was watching the news and hearing lie after lie after lie as well as seeing people voice their frustration through violence.
Now, the issue at hand: I am a believer and follower of Jesus Christ but that does not mean I am not allowed to have emotions or voice my opinions and frustrations. In my opinion, if we call ourselves Christians we should be the first ones to stand up for injustice anywhere (including our home country). There are a lot of people doing just that who are believers but not enough. It doesn’t mean all of us have to go to each city these tragedies are happening in. There are other ways to stand up for God and your fellow man. I do it through words, art, and talking with and teaching my kids right from wrong.
A very very close person to me said something to me yesterday that I absolutely agree with. “The Church” is full of cowards. Yes, I said it and I mean it. If we cannot voice our opinions without someone judging or labeling us as not hearing from God or judging us as being ungodly then there is a problem. There is a right way and a wrong way to do that but we can only do what we know how to do. I thank God for all the men and women standing up for God and this country. I am thankful to God for a new breed of leadership from “The Church”, it is long overdo. American Christians spend so much effort and time to assist and aid those in other countries. Nothing wrong with that; that is what we are called to do. However, we have to do the same in our own country as well which is supposed to be the leader of the “free” world. I put “free” in quotations because we are not free until we can come to a point where we exercise EACH AND EVERY ONE of our GOD-given rights.
I have to leave it there. I want to say sooooo much more but if I do, it will not be from a spiritual stand point by any means. Love your kids and teach them what true justice is. God willing (which He is), we will ALL turn our hearts around and stand united because it’s obvious we are divided and we have fallen.
