A Promise Is A Promise
As we all entered 2017, we finished a season that was full of traditions. Whether we celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah, or both, it was full of family traditions. Some of us participated in another tradition as 2016 became 2017; the tradition of making promises for ourselves for the new year (making resolutions).
I find it amazing that Gina posted a word about faith and promises on Monday. I laughed to myself because Holy Spirit already told me what to write about before I even saw her word. It is very important that we continually tune our ears to hear what the Lord speaks to us. It is obvious that He wants us to know and believe in His promises.
When it comes to making new year resolutions, the Lord told me years ago to not focus on that. It was 2012 into 2013 when He told me what to focus on in that year. It has been that way ever since. This year, yet again, instead of making unrealistic resolutions for myself I am to focus on what true righteousness is and the true form of wisdom.
We tend to make unrealistic promises to ourselves. We place such high expectations on ourselves and others that cannot possibly be met out of our flesh. When we focus on the promises of God, our spirit man becomes full. When we walk, talk, preach, teach, and live by our spirit man we tend to not place high expectations on ourselves or others. We begin to walk out in the grace, mercy, and love of God.
A promise is a promise. Let each of our mountains be made of every promise from God instead of the lies we have been believing about ourselves or the unrealistic promises we make to ourselves that tend to bring anxiety, worry, doubt, and feelings of failure.
Psalm 45:6 – Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
Psalm 85:10-13 – Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed. 11 Truth shall spring out of the earth, And righteousness shall look down from heaven. 12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good; And our land will yield its increase. 13 Righteousness will go before Him, And shall make His footsteps our pathway.
Psalm 89:14-15 – Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face. 15 Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance.
Malachi 4:2 – But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
Matthew 5:6,10 – Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled….10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 6:33 – But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
