Psalm 115

Psalm 115

My mind and my emotions are a bit off in this current season due to outside circumstances with those I care about. I had not received anything from the Lord to write. Finally, I just asked him for a passage to help me in this time. Psalm 115 is all I heard Him say. So here is Psalm 115 from the New King James Version.

The Futility of Idols and the Trustworthiness of God

Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, But to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth.
2 Why should the Gentiles say, “So where is their God?”
3 But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.
4 Their idols are silver and gold, The work of men’s hands.
5 They have mouths, but they do not speak; Eyes they have, but they do not see;
6 They have ears, but they do not hear; Noses they have, but they do not smell;
7 They have hands, but they do not handle; Feet they have, but they do not walk; Nor do they mutter through their throat.
8 Those who make them are like them; So is everyone who trusts in them.
9 O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.
12 The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will bless those who fear the Lord, Both small and great.
14 May the Lord give you increase more and more, You and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; But the earth He has given to the children of men.
17 The dead do not praise the Lord, Nor any who go down into silence.
18 But we will bless the Lord From this time forth and forevermore. Praise the Lord!

In my household, we are big on superheroes. The main ones are Batman, Superman, Ninjago, Power Rangers, and Wonder Woman. My youngest runs around pretending to defeat bad guys because he pretends he is part of a team. The other day he said something that I could have easily ignored because he is always pretending to be a superhero. He said, “When we wake up we have all the energy and power”. He said this at lunchtime so he had been awake for some time. I thought about that statement and paused for a moment. I asked him to repeat it so I could be sure I heard it correctly.

My spirit came alive at those words from a five-year old; “When we wake up we have all the energy and power”. That is an extremely profound statement even if he has no idea of how deep those words truly are.

We fight and struggle (every last one of us) so hard and exert so much time and energy on things that truly do not matter. Once we give our lives to the Lord, it is He that lives, moves, and works in and through us. So why do we continue to be spiritually exhausted? Because we continue to try to do things our way and by our past. We are made new by the indwelling of God The Father, Jesus Christ (the Word made flesh), and Holy Spirit.

I am no where near perfect but Christ, who lives in me, is. It is He that moves, lives, and loves in and through me.

Romans 13:11 – And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

We are to continually work at being more like Jesus Christ (The Annointed One) by our daily actions and decisions. When we are awake, we have all the energy and power. We have the energy of Jesus to do what He calls us to do.

Philippians 1:6 – being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ…

We have been given power (authority) over the enemy…

Luke 10:19-20 – Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

To use our energy and power given to us by our Lord, we must be awake so we can see and hear what the Spirit is saying to us. Again, “When we wake up we have all the energy and power”.

Matthew 21:14-17 – Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. 15 But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant 16 and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’?” 17 Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and He lodged there.

One last time, “When we wake up we have all the energy and power.”
