He Is Our Beginning, Our End, and All In Between
Revelation 1:8 – “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
We all know (have been taught) what the above passage means. It shows us that the Lord Jesus Christ is the beginning of our existence and the finality (the eternity) of our existence and purpose. We all know that, right? Yes, we do. What does that actually mean?
Life is not a linear concept; it is a circular concept. Every living thing on this planet has everything it needs to reproduce “after its own kind” upon birth. These things take time to develop at specific points throughout life but everything is there for these processes to happen (outside of defects and mutations). For example, trees and plants produce spores and seeds which fall at a certain point to develop more trees which in turn will do the same. Thus (not to be cliche) the “circle” of life continues.
Jesus Christ is the Word of God (John 1:1-4, Revelation 19:13). Jesus is in every piece that God Almighty has ever spoken because He IS the Word of God. Whenever we begin something, we begin with Him. Whenever we finish something, we finish with Him. Everything in between is with Him. Our beings (every single facet of it-from the beginning of our genealogy through the end) cannot be formed without Him. Every solitary detail of who we were, who we are, and who we will be (including those that come after us) is already predestined. We have everything within us that we will ever need. It is just a matter of the right season and the growth development within us to bring things as they are destined/purposed to be. A tree does not wonder when the time will be to become mighty and tall. It takes in whatever it is given and grows until it stops. Salmon are not told by another when it is time to swim upstream to spawn. It just knows and goes without hesitation or second guessing. We should be the same.
Too often I am one that second guesses everything. I do mean EVERYTHING. For this time and the seasons to come, I have purposed in my heart to focus on the voice of God and His love.
Once we have accepted Jesus into our lives, we have everything we need for the purposes of the Kingdom. It is just a matter of the right timing for things to grow, develop, and be released. My prayer is that all of us come to a place of not second guessing every little detail but coming into a place of pure and absolute obedience to the voice of our Lord.
