Blood and Water

Worthy to be Praised 7 (copyright)

I am watching Game 1 of the NBA Finals and feeling the adrenaline of the event (I have no doubt I’m not the only one). I have family and friends from and in Canada so I can only imagine the intense excitement (BTW: I’m rooting for the Warriors; sorry – teeheehee). I was led by Holy Spirit to look up John 13 (it’s what I do). The Wisdom of the Spirit hit me. No matter how we may feel at any given moment, there are a multitude of elemental themes that occur and recur through the Living Word of God; blood and water was my focal point tonight. That’s what we are, right?! . . . and then some more.

John 13:1-5 – Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

Watch the order of the passage as I currently see it:

  1. Jesus knew
  2. Jesus loved
  3. The Devil was already there
  4. Jesus rose from supper
  5. laid aside His garments
  6. girded Himself
  7. Then . . . He prepared the basins to wash the disciples feet [even I will have to unpack all this later] .
  8. After He did He dried them with the towel covering Him.

What captured me with this is a remembrance of God’s Shekinah Glory. There is much in just that title so here is one reference <http://hope-of-israel.org.nz/glory.htm>.

The simplest way I have heard of God’s Shekinah Glory is as His manifested Presence/Covering. The above Bible verse caused me to pause because I immediately thought of two other related courses.

Genesis 3:21-24 – Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them. 22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

I heard a great teaching where I realized this fact; God covered Adam and Eve under blood BEFORE He removed them from Eden. Throughout the Bible, we see Him and His Presence covering His people in various ways and forms especially for their/our protection. [We can unpack later]

When Jesus hung upon the Cross as the storm began to roll in, the spear was lunged into His side to assure He was dead. His blood and water spilled out of Him and covered the Roman Soldier who stuck the spear in. We can never forget the many times He bled before this moment also.

With just these passages we know and see God’s unfailing Love for us though we can easily forget through the hustle and bustle of our busy days (I know I do).

I have no idea what God Almighty through Holy Spirit by Jesus Christ has in His plans for me or where He is leading me. I am finding a different kind of relationship in Him. There is much we know and much more He chooses for us to gain in “such a time as this”. If this is your first time to my page: Be sure to hit the Welcome page to view a partiality of my core. God Bless!
