Order for Advancement: Part 3-Zebulun

The Order for Advancement
As shown through the 12 tribes of Israel: Part 3-Zebulun

We are at the last battalion of the brigade of Judah which is Zebulun. Zebulun was the 6th and final son born to Leah and the 10th born of all the sons. When he was born, Leah said this:

Genesis 30:19-20 – Then Leah conceived again and bore Jacob a sixth son. 20 And Leah said, “God has endowed me with a good endowment; now my husband will dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons.” So she called his name Zebulun.

Zebulun means habitation. The order thus far in this series is praise, reward (recompense), and then habitation. We accept the Lord Jesus Christ in our hearts, He becomes our undeserving wage for our sins and our lives, then He becomes a part of us as He begins to dwell (live) within us.

Here is what Israel (Jacob) spoke concerning Zebulun:

Genesis 49:13 – “Zebulun shall dwell by the haven of the sea; He shall become a haven for ships, And his border shall adjoin Sidon.

Here is the blessing Moses spoke over the tribe of Zebulun. It was combined with the blessing for the tribe of Issachar.

Deuteronomy 33:18-19 – And of Zebulun he said: “Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out, And Issachar in your tents! 19 They shall call the peoples to the mountain; There they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness; For they shall partake of the abundance of the seas And of treasures hidden in the sand.”

In the prophecy spoken by Moses, he tells Zebulun to rejoice in going out. He tells Issachar to rejoice in the tents. In the last writing I spoke of this and said “in your tents” refers to our secret place with the Lord; intimacy where most of our growth occurs. For Zebulun, the words say “in your going out”. Though the word for Zebulun is spoken before the word for Issachar, in the breaking camp order Zebulun comes after Issachar. Issachar means reward; Zebulun means dwelling place (habitation). Once we have accepted and received our great reward which is God the Father, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit, they become a part of us and we become a part of them. They have their being in us which helps us to move and advance the Kingdom. Just as they are One, so we become One also. Dear Loves, we are not called The Body for nothing.

Matthew 1:18 – Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 2:40 – And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.

Luke 3:22 – And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

Luke 4:1,14 – Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness…14 Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.

John 17:20-23 – “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

John 14:17,23 – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you….23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

The order we have thus far is: praise (“If anyone loves me”), reward and the prophetic (“He will keep My words”-Jesus is The Word of God {John 1:1; Revelation 19:13}), and habitation (“My Father will love him and We will…make Our home with him”).

I find it interesting that in both Israel’s (Jacob’s) prophecy and Moses’ prophecy about Zebulun, seas are mentioned. As the focus is to show how God does nothing on accident, let us delve into this to try and gain a deeper understanding regarding what He is saying in connection to Him dwelling with and in us.

The most obvious is the Red Sea crossing by the Israelites. That example speaks to us about God’s Power and our deliverance from the enemy (Exodus 14). The sea speaks of water and its depths.

John 3:5 – Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

John 4:13-14 – Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Ephesians 5:26-27 – that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Hebrews 10:19-22 – Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

1 John 5:6-8 – This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.

In multiple places in the Book of Revelation, the Lord’s voice and the voice of the multitudes are labeled as sounding like “the voice of many waters” (Revelation 1:15; 14:2; 19:6). It is also of extreme importance to note the first miracle Jesus ever did was at a wedding in Cana which was turning huge jugs of water into wine (John 2:1-11). I am not admonished to go into the deeper understanding of that story at this time. However, I know Holy Spirit is ready to download into “those that have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches”.

Seas speak of water and depths which is spoken in the prophecies over Zebulun which means habitation. When I think of water I think of cleansing, being refreshed, and peace. I pray there is a grasping of this information by all whom it is intended for.

Matthew 5:6 – Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

The “going out” Moses spoke of about Zebulun can be related to the Lord shining through us to others. Jesus is our Righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30-31). It is Him shining through us that draws others back to Himself. His shining through us is Him living on the inside of us as much as we allow Him to.

Matthew 5:16 – Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

As this series is regarding God’s intended order for the advancement of His Kingdom and Zebulun means habitation, let us look at some Biblical principles regarding habitation as it relates to the Lord.

The most obvious one that comes to mind is:

Psalm 22:3 – But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. (KJV)

We have already seen another previously in this writing. Believing in the Lord through our word makes us one with Them (John 17:20-21). Loving the Lord helps us to keep His commands which then establishes the God-head to dwell within us (John 14:23).

Psalm 91:1-2 – He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

Revelation 21:3 – And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

As much as we open and give ourselves to the Lord, the more He becomes everything within us. He longs to live among and within us. We can only go so far and advance the Kingdom so far without this focus. He will become our habitation as we allow Him to dwell and make His home within us. Selah.
